HOW ALDURAZYME WORKS

Aldurazyme® is the first enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) for the treatment of MPS I

Aldurazyme is a prescription-only ERT indicated for patients with Hurler and Hurler-Scheie forms of MPS I and for patients with the Scheie form who have moderate to severe symptoms.

Limitations of using Aldurazyme:

Aldurazyme has NOT been evaluated to treat:

  • People who have been mildly affected with the Scheie form (the least severe form of MPS I)

  • The central nervous system symptoms

How does Aldurazyme work?

Aldurazyme is a highly purified protein, identical to a naturally occurring form of the human enzyme IDUA. It provides the body with a source of the deficient or missing enzyme in MPS I.

MPS I = mucopolysaccharidosis type I.
