GENETICS AND MPS I

How do people get MPS I?

MPS I is a genetic disease which is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.

When both the parents carry one copy of the MPS I disease gene, there is a 25% (1 in 4) chance that their child will carry two copies of the disease gene and be born with MPS I disease.

MPS I = mucopolysaccharidosis type I.
